The 81st Annual Rummage Sale for INOVA Hospital was celebrated in Leesburg, Virginia on the third weekend of October! This is a very unique rummage sale and has been celebrated annually for 81 years. Secondly, this is the largest Rummage Sale on the East Coast, encompassing 55,000 square feet packed with a treasure trove of great bargains and unique trinkets. Still more impressive is that all the proceeds -$343,000 - go towards scholarships for the nursing students and support the special needs equipment at the Inova Cornwall Hospital in Leesburg.
A lovely group of ladies composing the Ladies Board of Inova Loundoun Hospital, Leesburg have been faithfully running the rummage sale together for quite a while including families who have been volunteering together at this benefit for 30 and 40 years! Joylyn Hannahs and Meagan O’Brien are two new ladies who have picked up the baton to lead this year and as new-comers they have not missed a beat.
Dave
Kennedy, Victory
Van Owner,
happened to
meet several ladies
at the Cornwall
Hospital as they
were discussing the
fact that their
“relocation expert”
was retiring. In the
right place at the
right time, Dave
struck up a
conversation and
Victory Van just
finished their
second year serving
the Leesburg
community for Invova
Hospital. Dave
donated baseball
tickets to next
year’s Nationals’
game, seated in
Victory’s executive
suite for home
games.

not shabby for a
silent auction!
Victory
Van
Corporation
set up and
organized the main
building and
surrounding tents
with 17 employees
working five days
straight to
prepare for
Saturday morning
at 8:00am. The
Sterling
relocation
specialists’ not
only set up, but
also broke down
all and repacked
all that was not
sold.
Project
manager, Joe-Joe
Hooker
(as he endearingly
became known to
all) informed us
this year there
were 20 tractor
trailers (which
are 53ft long)
delivering items,
an increase of
25%-30% from last
year’s 14 tractor
trailers. Joe
explained his job
was to oversee
that everyone was
moving at the same
pace and
delivering items
to the correct
venues.
George
Zane,
VP
of Victory
Van,
led this event for
the second time. I
asked George what
stood out the most
to him during this
event and he
replied, “Morven
Park Equestrian
Center is such a
great location to
have this type of
event with the
Sheriff’s department
out greeting people
and so many local
people volunteering
yearly with this
event is
heartwarming. This
is my second year to
head up this
festivity and I am
happy with the
increase in items.
It is a chain
reaction with the
economy and we are
witnessing how well
people are doing and
willing to share
their goods by
donating them to a
good cause.” George
was equally
impressed with the
tents - “the
man cave” in
particular.
